DIY fog juice : that goes a long way

so this year I actually made my own fog juice for both my fog machines and the results were fantastic! you will need distilled water, glycerin, a measuring cup and a container for your fog juice.

Very Thicker Smoke: 30% Glycerin | 70% Water

Medium Thick Smoke:
20% Glycerin | 80% Water

Less Thick Smoke:
15% Glycerin | 85% Water

This is about the ratio's for smoke thickness, next year I plan on adding a scent to it. I bought distilled water from the grocery store and I bought a gallon of glycerin for like 25 bucks, which I only used maybe a quarter of the glycerin from the gallon jug it came in. I made 2 batches of fog juice only using a quarter of the glycerin. I also poured some of the distilled water into a bowl to use the gallon jug as my container for the fog juice. So overall I think it worked out rather nicely! AND I still had fog juice left over so that was indeed a bonus!

So my weekend project inspired by a fellow haunter Scott Legosi.  It's a twist off of some stuff he has done. Made both skulls and then made some horns on them. Purchased the sign boards from walmart.. ome chicken bones dangling. Still need to add some stain on the rope .. some dirt @ the base.. and some soanish moss .. but thats my weekend build.

So im not sure if I hit this one exactly what I want.. feel like the rest of its body is neglected but worried if I do more it would be too much ya know? Also not sure about the top.. just seemed so blah, like it needed something.

So I had already made this skull with the intention of adding teeth. So I made a few teeth and teeth plates inspired by stiltbeast studio.  Added some screws and gore.. blood.. had a lot of fun making this while watching Aliens. Giggles.

Upadated :Dragoness Masquerade Mask

Hard to see but it has metallic looking purples and blues.

So I finished the dragoness mask today, Thinking to start another project. However, deciding to wait on another mask, due to ordering a bust which I can also use later on for making latex mask's if I decide to do some clay sculpting. How cool would that be??? can you tell a little excited about the idea of clay sculpting. Giggles

So this is what I woke up working on this morning.  A creepy skull beware sign. I am a little disappointed about the paper wrinkles but its only because its not made out of real wood. Think I would of loved it more if it were a wood backing. But I do love the frame work, sorta makes it look like one of those vintage frames.

Goblin king mask From the movie The Labyrinth

Just Painted, But the way the light is reflecting makes it seem not as dark.

This all started because one of my dear friends Christina has an indefinite infatuation with the movie, The Labyrinth. However I cannot blame her David Bowie was totally hot in that movie and Jim Henson's goblins and creatures were and still are so magical.




Here is my progress so far. Still needs another layer of love and some sanding before it gets painted.

In this image, most of the 3D, effect came out to my desired liking so I could move on.


But it was started with making a paper Mache mask, then making horns using coat hangers and newspaper for thickness. I have seen tutorials on ho

I have added the definition to the horns.

w they use tin foil, however it seems like a waste of time because you still have to go over it with masking tape for anything to stick. So when trying to achieve thickness I just figured newspaper was the cheapest way to go, due to using coat hanger for the sturdiness of the horns.

In This image, it was the start with a basic paper Mache mask I did, and the horns.

 After I had them the thickness I desired, I used twine to wrap around to give the horns a horn like definition. Then you can use glue and tissue paper to keep it intact and look more horn like.

 

 

 

 



But here you can see the different phases of building it up to have more of a 3D dimension to resemble more of the mask on Labyrinth (The Goblin King).

Here I started adding some definition or 3D visual to the piece.

Witches Grimoire

The beginning progress on my witches spell book. Used 2 binders .. added some toilet paper rolls to the ends..then covered in this green foe leather I got from a friend and add3d misc embellishments.

Also finished this crazy nailed pumpkin, but he looked really awesome in the dark too.. actually paper mached the base pumpkin yesterday.

Witches hat decoupage

So yesterday I made a witches hat form, then paper mached it. Was all dry today so I go to decoupage it and also made a hat stand for it.. however the hat stand is sort of hard to see.

 

Latest creations 7/26/15

So today, I decided to finish up several projects I had going. So tomorrow or today I could start another one. My aunt Debbie basically wants to see me create a bat like creature. So now of course it's all I have been able to think about the last few days. However I do still have two projects to finish after the bat, because I'm just antsy and can't wait to attempt it. Because I'm blowing up with idea's of how to create it.
 But about these current projects :
*Pumpkin People - tried another version of some folk lore to the pumpkin, more of an old style.
*Potion bottle : tried to go more of something not so scary and more pretty so figured more like an ice queen type feel to it with some frilly cute stuff.
* Witches Trinkets: Complied with a sand glass timer, potion bottles, runes with wiccan writing I guess, some twigs (kind of like the purpose of sage or something), and a black feather. I was going to include this candle but then the box wouldn't close, go figure right.            
*Flickering candles: I actually made 3 different ones but forgot to add the other in the picture, OH well. I actually learned something new making the orange looking flickering candle, glue + perlite = snow like look, which also influence my potion bottle of the ice queen style. But for the purpose of the flickering candle adding stain made it have a rock like texture. And I also had recently bought some white hot glue which made it sooooooo much easier for the flickering candles to add the wax. Verses actually having to paint the hot glue white then turn around and add some stain to achieve an old weathered dusted sort of feel.




 

Halloween chandelier

So thinking about more lighting ideas.. I had this old fame of a chandelier, which I hated because it was cheesy looking. I took some ice cicle lights painted the cord black and used silicone and food coloring to change the glow of the lights. Used a black feather boa and hung a raven from the center.

So my mum in law Rebecca & Aunt Debbie found me this amazing bottle.
I figured what better bottle to make other then love potion # 9,
when my loved ones found me this amazing bottle.
It also has a light dangling inside for the purpose
of lighting up the glass shelf under it.
 

 

Update on cyborg baby

 

Finished the Cyborg Baby Doll today. However I do think I'm going to make his light up eye a blue tint, otherwise it seems to bright?

 

 

 

 

So I really do love sci-fi movies along with horror / thriller's.. and I was watching terminator last night and it dawned on me a really cool baby doll.. and had to start on it this morning.. after tidying up my workspace some.. he still needs some paint.

Carnivorous Plant

Finished this today, my meat eating plant. Paints still a little wet, but you know me impatient about posting a picture. What do you guys think creepy enough. I was thinking about adding some blood? Or would that be too much? The leafy limbs are actually pose able.

Creepy baby doll : Vintage Cindy

Another tortured baby doll finished. Meet Vintage Cindy, she fashions a lovely vintage style dress that has been dyed but faded for an older look. She is embellished with nails & fencing staples, along with a gorged out eye and the other is washed out. I wouldn't get to close she might bite a little.

paper mache Shrunken head

So today I worked on a shrunken head. I have made 2 before but a different technique using tinfoil and hot glue and a wood burning tool. But my attempt was to avoid using hot glue. I do love the wrinkles I achieved. Still wet in the picture.
